BBL HEROic

Wouldn't it be wonderful to maintain young-looking, healthy and radiant skin throughout our lives?

We all want to look younger than our chronological age. However, over time, stress, lack of sleep, environmental factors and especially sun exposure can affect the skin's natural defense and renewal capacity.

As a result, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, dullness and loss of elasticity gradually become more noticeable.

Today, the approach to skin aging is no longer focused only on correcting visible signs after they appear. Modern anti-aging treatments aim to support the way the skin ages by helping maintain its natural renewal processes.

Sciton's next-generation broadband light technology, BBL HEROic, targets visible concerns such as sun damage, pigmentation and redness while supporting the skin's natural regeneration mechanisms to help improve overall skin quality.

Scientifically Supported Skin Rejuvenation Effect

One of the most remarkable features that distinguishes BBL technology from traditional skin rejuvenation treatments is that its effect is not limited only to the visible appearance of the skin.

Molecular studies conducted on BBL technology have shown that after treatment, some gene expressions associated with aging skin may change toward a profile closer to younger-looking skin.

Research has reported changes in 1,293 gene expressions associated with aging, suggesting that BBL may support not only visible improvements in concerns such as pigmentation, redness, fine lines and sun damage, but also a biological response that resembles younger skin behavior.

Another study examining the long-term effects of regular BBL treatments evaluated individuals who received at least one BBL treatment every year for 5–11 years.

Although participants continued to age chronologically, photographic evaluations showed fewer visible signs of aging compared with expected changes.

These findings suggest that regular BBL treatments may help slow the progression of visible aging signs such as sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, vascular appearance and skin laxity.

BBL HEROic is the newest generation of BroadBand Light technology built on this scientific foundation.

By using controlled broadband light energy, BBL HEROic targets pigmentation and vascular concerns while supporting the skin's natural renewal mechanisms.

The goal is not only to reduce existing signs of aging but also to support clearer, firmer, more balanced and youthful-looking skin quality over time.

How Does BBL HEROic Work?

BBL HEROic™ is the newest and most advanced version of Sciton's BroadBand Light® technology.

Using intense pulsed light energy at different wavelengths, it targets multiple skin concerns within the same treatment approach, including:

Sun spots

Pigmentation irregularities

Redness

Visible blood vessels

Fine lines

Uneven skin tone

Skin texture irregularities

The working principle of BBL HEROic is based on the ability of different skin structures to absorb different wavelengths of light.

In pigmentation treatments, melanin is one of the main targets. In treatments for redness and visible vessels, hemoglobin is the primary target.

The light energy is selectively absorbed by the targeted structures and converted into controlled heat energy.

This allows sun spots, pigmentation and vascular-related discoloration to be targeted, while the controlled thermal stimulation created in the dermis supports the skin's natural renewal processes and collagen-rich structures.

Over time, the skin may appear smoother, clearer, firmer and more radiant, while the appearance of brown spots, redness and uneven skin tone may improve.

Advanced Technologies Behind BBL HEROic

One of the most important innovations that differentiates BBL HEROic from previous BBL systems is the combination of:

Intelligent Control™ (IC™)

Skin Positioning System™ (SPS™)

Autodynamic Pulsing™ technology

Skin Positioning System™ tracks the movement and position of the treatment handpiece on the skin in real time, creating three-dimensional positioning information across multiple axes.

This data is processed by Intelligent Control™, which automatically adjusts the placement of light pulses according to the movement speed, direction of the handpiece and the contours of the treated area.

Autodynamic Pulsing™ helps deliver light pulses systematically according to this information.

This intelligent technological system aims to reduce the risk of missed areas or excessive overlap between pulses while helping distribute energy more evenly across the treatment area.

Thanks to this advanced technology, BBL HEROic can be used not only on the face but also on areas such as the neck, décolleté, hands, arms and larger or curved body regions with a fast, controlled and comfortable treatment experience.

As a result, BBL HEROic is not only a light treatment targeting visible skin concerns; it is a next-generation anti-aging approach designed to improve skin tone, texture and overall skin quality.

What Is BBL HEROic?

BBL® HEROic™ is the newest and most advanced version of Sciton's BroadBand Light® technology.

While it is based on the same fundamental broadband light technology used in previous BBL systems, BBL HEROic combines advanced intelligent control and automated pulse delivery technologies to make treatments faster, more precise and more systematic.

The key innovations that distinguish BBL HEROic from previous generations are:

Intelligent Control™ (IC™)

Skin Positioning System™ (SPS™)

Autodynamic Pulsing™ technology

Skin Positioning System™ tracks the position, movement speed and direction of the treatment handpiece in real time.

Intelligent Control™ processes this three-dimensional information and adjusts the placement of light pulses according to the movement of the handpiece and the contours of the treated area.

Autodynamic Pulsing™ helps deliver pulses in a more systematic and consistent way by adapting to hand movements and body contours.

Thanks to this advanced technological system, BBL HEROic can be used not only on the face but also on areas such as the neck, décolleté, hands, arms and larger body areas.

It can target different skin concerns including:

Uneven skin tone

Sun damage

Brown spots

Redness

Visible blood vessels

Overall skin quality concerns

The difference of BBL HEROic is not only its speed. This technology combines high performance with precision and comfort, offering a next-generation light treatment approach designed to improve skin tone, texture and overall skin quality.

Is BBL HEROic a Laser?

Although BBL HEROic is commonly referred to as a “BBL laser” in everyday language, it is technically not a traditional laser system.

BBL stands for BroadBand Light, which means it uses broadband light technology.

While laser systems work with a specific wavelength of light, BBL technology uses a wider spectrum of light energy and different filters to target different structures within the skin.

This allows personalized treatments for different concerns, from melanin-related brown spots to hemoglobin-related redness and visible blood vessels.

Therefore, it would not be accurate to describe BBL HEROic only as a “pigmentation laser”.

It is an advanced intense pulsed light technology that can address pigmentation, vascular concerns and overall skin quality within the same platform.

Who Can Benefit From BBL HEROic?

BBL HEROic may be suitable for people who want to improve different signs of skin aging and skin quality concerns, including:

People with pigmentation problems

People experiencing loss of skin elasticity

People looking for a treatment for fine lines and wrinkles

People who want a brighter and more radiant complexion

People with visible capillary or vascular concerns

People who want to maintain a younger-looking skin appearance

People who want smoother and younger-looking skin on the body

Whether BBL HEROic is suitable for you depends on several factors, including:

Skin type

Type and depth of pigmentation

Recent sun exposure or tanning

Medical history

A consultation with your doctor is important to determine the most appropriate treatment approach.

Which Areas Can Be Treated With BBL HEROic?

BBL® HEROic™ is not limited to the face. It can also be applied to different body areas where concerns such as sun damage, uneven pigmentation, redness and reduced skin quality are present.

One of the important advantages of the technology is its ability to work quickly and evenly on larger treatment areas.

The Skin Positioning System™ and Autodynamic Pulsing™ technologies help the device adapt to body contours, making treatment easier on areas beyond the face.

Face and Neck

BBL HEROic can help target sun damage, pigmentation, redness, rosacea appearance and visible blood vessels. It aims to improve skin tone and texture while creating a brighter, smoother and more refreshed appearance.

Décolleté, Shoulders and Back

It can be used to improve sun-related pigmentation, redness and uneven skin tone that develop over time. The décolleté and shoulder areas are among the regions frequently affected by chronic sun exposure.

Hands and Arms

BBL HEROic can target brown spots caused by sun exposure and uneven skin tone, helping create a more balanced and younger-looking appearance.

Legs, Knees and Feet

The treatment may be used to improve pigmentation, visible vessels, uneven coloration and overall skin appearance in these areas.

Thanks to its rapid pulse delivery and automated positioning technologies, larger areas such as the back, arms and legs can also be treated efficiently.

The treatment areas are determined individually during consultation according to your skin needs and specific concerns.

How Is BBL HEROic Applied?

Before a BBL® HEROic™ treatment, special protective glasses are used to protect the eyes from intense light energy.

A transparent gel is then applied to the treatment area, and the device's specialized handpiece is moved across the skin in a controlled manner.

The integrated cooling system helps protect the skin surface and improves treatment comfort.

During the short and high-intensity light pulses, patients may feel mild warmth or a slight tingling sensation. These sensations are generally well tolerated.

BBL HEROic works in two ways through controlled light energy.

On one hand, it selectively targets concerns such as:

Sun spots

Pigmentation

Redness

Visible blood vessels

In pigmentation treatments, melanin is one of the main targets, while hemoglobin is the primary target in vascular treatments.

The light energy is absorbed by the targeted structures and converted into controlled heat energy.

After treatment, pigmented areas may temporarily appear darker. This is an expected response as the targeted pigment reacts to the light energy and gradually moves toward the skin surface during the natural renewal process.

In vascular treatments, the aim is to reduce the appearance of visible blood vessels over time.

At the same time, the controlled thermal effect created in the dermis supports the skin's natural repair and renewal mechanisms.

As a result, the skin tone may become more even, while improvements in fine lines, uneven texture and loss of elasticity may gradually become visible.

What Is the Recovery Process After BBL HEROic?

Recovery after BBL HEROic™ is generally comfortable, and most patients can return to their daily activities immediately.

After treatment, the skin may feel slightly warm and sensitive, similar to a mild sunburn sensation.

Depending on the treated area and the treatment settings used, mild redness or minimal swelling may occur.

During pigmentation treatments, brown spots may temporarily become darker after the procedure.

This temporary darkening is an expected response as the targeted pigment reacts to the light energy.

In the following days, the pigmented areas may move toward the surface, gently flake and gradually become less visible.

Depending on the initial condition of the skin and treatment intensity, mild dryness, sensitivity or small crusts may also occur.

After treatment, especially during the first days, it is important to avoid direct and intense sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen.

When Will BBL HEROic Results Be Visible?

Within approximately 1–2 weeks after BBL HEROic treatment, the skin may begin to appear more even-toned, smoother, brighter and more radiant.

Pigmented areas may look darker immediately after treatment. Following this temporary phase, improvements in pigmentation become more noticeable as the targeted pigment gradually clears.

The first visible changes are often noticed after 1–2 sessions, while optimal results are generally achieved after completing a treatment series planned at appropriate intervals.

The effects of BBL HEROic are not limited to the first days after treatment.

As the skin's natural renewal processes continue, gradual improvements in skin quality may continue over weeks and months.

The degree of improvement and the time required to see results vary depending on:

Skin structure

The condition being treated

Treatment parameters

Total number of sessions

How Many BBL HEROic Sessions Are Needed?

The number of sessions is determined according to the current condition of the skin, the concerns being treated and the patient's goals.

In many cases, an initial treatment plan may consist of 2–3 sessions performed approximately three weeks apart.

Some patients may notice a visible improvement after a single session, while conditions involving extensive sun damage or multiple skin concerns may require additional treatments.

After the desired results are achieved, maintenance sessions may be planned periodically to help preserve skin quality and the improved appearance.

Long-term studies evaluating regular BBL treatments over 5–11 years have suggested that periodic treatments may help limit the progression of visible aging signs such as sun damage, fine lines, vascular appearance and skin laxity.

However, treatment plans should always be personalized according to each patient's skin condition and response.

How Long Does a BBL HEROic Treatment Take?

The duration of a BBL HEROic treatment depends on the size of the treated area.

In general, the procedure may take approximately 20–50 minutes.

Smaller areas can be treated in a shorter time, while larger areas such as the back, arms or legs may require a longer treatment period depending on the treatment plan.

One of the main advantages of HEROic technology is that the Skin Positioning System and automated pulse delivery technologies allow larger areas to be treated quickly and evenly.

Can BBL HEROic Be Performed in Every Season?

Some laser and light-based treatments are traditionally preferred during autumn and winter months.

However, BBL HEROic may be performed during different times of the year with appropriate patient selection and proper sun protection.

This does not mean that treatment is independent of sun exposure.

If the skin has recently been exposed to intense sunlight, has a sunburn or is significantly tanned, the treatment may need to be postponed because light absorption within the skin can change.

Especially in pigmentation-focused treatments, protecting the skin from the sun before and after the procedure is important for maintaining results and reducing the risk of unwanted pigmentation changes.

Therefore, the ideal timing of treatment is determined not only by the season but also by the patient's level of sun exposure and the current condition of the skin.

How Often Should BBL HEROic Treatments Be Repeated?

After completing the initial treatment series, personalized maintenance sessions may be planned to support long-term results.

Depending on the skin's needs, a maintenance program may include 2–3 BBL HEROic sessions per year to help maintain skin quality and a younger-looking appearance.

Studies evaluating long-term BBL results suggest that regular treatments may support slower progression of visible aging signs such as sun damage, fine lines, vascular appearance and skin laxity.

For this reason, BBL HEROic can be considered not only a treatment for existing skin concerns but also a long-term skin quality maintenance approach.

The frequency of maintenance treatments is determined individually according to:

Age

Skin type

Level of sun exposure

Response to previous treatments
